Why this matters

When a grandparent dies, an entire library burns down.

Most of what they knew — the recipes, the love letters, the year they almost gave up, the joke their father always told, the smell of their grandmother's house — vanishes within a generation. Not because anyone wanted it to. Because no one had the time, the structure, or the patience to ask while there was still time.

A grandparent will tell you almost anything — if you sit down, ask the right question, and don't rush them.

The full workflow

From the day you sign up to the day the books arrive.

No equipment. No software for them to learn. We've thought through every step the way an estate planner or a hospice chaplain would. Here is exactly what happens.

— I —

Add an elder · 5 minutes

You tell us who they are. We build the rest of the project around them.

  • Name, age, your relationship, their time zone
  • Five short story-arc seeds (childhood home, first love, what they survived, what they're proud of, what you most want their grandchildren to know)
  • The best phone number to reach them and their preferred call time
  • Anything Saga should never ask about — we treat that as a hard wall, not a soft suggestion
— II —

The first call · the warm intro

Saga reaches out and introduces herself before any interview begins.

  • "Hello — I'm Saga. Your family asked me to help write down your story. There's no rush, and we don't have to talk about anything you don't want to."
  • Voice-only. No app for them to install. Calls are scheduled in-app for the first conversation; direct landline + video calling launches Day 60.
  • Family confirms the schedule before the first call. We never call cold.
— III —

Weekly conversations · 30-45 minutes

Patient, sensory questions. Long silences allowed. Their pace, never ours.

  • One question at a time. Anchored in sensory detail — sight, smell, sound, texture.
  • Saga uses their words back to them. Never corrects, never fills the silence, never moralizes.
  • Six gentle territories drift across the year: childhood, coming of age, the work, the loves, the hardships, what to remember.
  • They can pause, hang up, or say "I don't want to talk about that" any time. Saga moves on with grace.
— IV —

Chapter assembly · every 2-3 conversations

A literary chapter, drafted in their voice, with their actual words preserved.

  • Three or more verbatim quotes per chapter — the moments where they reached for an image and found it.
  • The title comes from a phrase they actually said. Never invented.
  • If we don't have a fact in the transcript, we don't put it in the chapter. The elder is the source of truth.
  • Chapters arrive in the family dashboard within 48 hours of each conversation.
— V —

Family review · suggest, react, request follow-ups

The whole family reads along. Every reader's reaction shapes the next conversation.

  • Each chapter appears in a private family dashboard you control. Permissions are explicit per relative.
  • Family can request follow-up topics: "Ask Grandma about the year of the flood." "Get her to tell the story about the dog."
  • Saga weaves family-requested threads into the next conversation gently, without telling the elder anyone asked.
  • You can read a transcript of any call. Audio archives are available on Family+.
— VI —

The year-end book · hardcover, gilt, archival

Twelve months later, a memoir lands at every family member's door.

  • Hardcover, 7×10", ~120-180 pages. Archival ivory paper. Gilt section dividers. Classic Garamond-family serif.
  • Front cover: their photograph, gilt-stamped title in the phrase they said the most.
  • Printed in the U.S. by archival-quality print partners. Ships within 10 business days of approval.
  • One copy included with Family+. Additional copies $49 each — for siblings, cousins, in-laws, the great-grandchildren who will want one in twenty years.

What's live today: early-access families schedule calls in-app via their elder's mobile phone or web browser, with the natural ElevenLabs voice you can hear in the demo. Direct landline + video calling, multi-elder cross-book, and the audio archive arrive in the Day 60 wave. We're saying so out loud because we'd rather you know than be surprised.

A note from the founder: I built Saga because my grandfather died in 2019, and three months later my grandmother started forgetting his name. We had hours of stories between us — and I had recorded none of them. Every family I know has a version of this regret. Saga is the tool I wish we'd had. — Twin Flame Group Read the longer note →

A preview

Eleanor, 84, is fictional. The chapters feel real because the method is.

We synthesized a demo elder so you can read what Saga produces before you sign up. Three completed chapters. A guided five-minute interview you can try yourself, in Eleanor's role. Read the first paragraph of "The Shoes My Mother Made Me Sew Myself" — that's what your family will inherit.

Who Saga is for

For the granddaughter who keeps meaning to ask.

The adult grandchild

You live three states away. They live alone. You call when you can. You've been meaning to "really ask them" for three Thanksgivings. Saga does the asking, every week, without you having to schedule it.

The middle-aged child

Your parent is 78. Their memory is good but not what it was. You don't want to write a memoir for them — you want them to tell theirs. You want everyone in the family to hear it.

The estate-planning lawyer

Your clients are wrapping up their financial legacy. Their human legacy is a harder conversation. Saga is the gentle add-on that turns a hard meeting into a gift.

We're staffing this carefully — we'd rather get the first hundred families right than open the floodgates and produce mediocre memoirs. Tell us a little about your family and we'll be in touch personally before the onboarding wave begins.

  • Personal email when your slot is ready — never a marketing blast
  • Founding-family pricing locked at $29/mo for life
  • First three conversations free, no card required
  • If your elder is in fragile health, mark "now" and we'll prioritize

We'll never sell your email. We'll never spam. One personal note when your slot is ready.

Questions families ask

FAQ

What does my grandparent actually have to do?

Answer the phone. That's the whole thing. Saga calls at a time you've set together. The interview lasts ~30-45 minutes. They can pause, hang up, or skip a topic any time. We do not require any app, login, or device for them.

Is the AI warm enough? Won't they hate it?

We tested with grandparents in their 70s through 90s before we shipped. The voice is calm, slow-paced, and never interrupts. It's prompted to favor long silences, sensory questions, and gentle returns to a topic. If they don't want to talk to AI, Saga also supports family-led interviews where you ask the questions and we do the synthesis.

What about hard topics — grief, trauma, things they don't want to share?

The interviewer is explicitly trained to acknowledge hard moments without probing. If your grandparent says "I don't want to talk about that," Saga moves on warmly. You also tell us, during onboarding, anything we should never ask about.

Do you fabricate or embellish?

Never. The memoir uses the elder's actual words, with at least three verbatim-quoted moments per chapter. If we don't have a fact in the transcript, we don't invent one. The whole point is that this is theirs.

What about privacy?

Conversations are encrypted in transit and at rest. Only people you authorize can read them. You can delete any conversation, chapter, or the entire account at any time and we permanently destroy the data within 30 days.

What does the printed book look like?

Hardcover, 7×10", archival ivory paper, gilt section dividers, classic serif typeface. ~120-180 pages depending on how much your elder shared. Prints in the U.S. and ships within 10 business days. One copy is included with Family+ — additional copies are $49 each.

What if my grandparent passes away mid-project?

We'll bind whatever exists — even a single conversation — into a finished memoir at our cost. We've thought about this carefully. Send us a note and we'll handle it with the dignity it deserves.

Their voice. Their memories. Bound forever.

Reserve your family's slot in the Q3 2026 wave. The first three conversations are free. The whole project takes a year.
